In the earlier seasons, begin your scouting above the timberline and near water sources, as this is where deer congregate in the warmer temperatures. As winter progresses, the herds will begin moving into the lower altitudes. Archery and muzzleloader tags drawn for this unit are also valid in Units 11, 13, 22, 131 and 231. An add-on bear tag is available for purchase when holding an archery or muzzleloader mule deer tag. Keep in mind that the late season hunting grounds will be shared with elk hunters. There are a great number of elk hunters, since the tags are available OTC.

Elk hunting has proven successful in Unit 211 Colorado, especially in the earlier seasons since the elk are actively moving through the unit during this time. Archery and rifle season elk tags are available OTC and muzzleloader tags are limited-draw. The arid climate of this unit causes elk to spend a considerable amount of their day searching for water during the warmer months.

Unit 211 Colorado has a stronghold on its antelope hunting success rates. The tags are a bit harder to draw than deer or elk tags for this unit, but for a good reason. The antelope numbers are very well-maintained from year to year. Unit 211 offers stretches of shrub-covered foothills and flat prairieland. Colorado GMU 211 offers about a 1 : 1 ratio for public and private land, so be sure to stay informed on property lines.
